Travis Scott. A man that’s been in the game since 2012. He’s dropped bangers of many sorts in Rodeo, Birds, and even his flashy singles in “Green & Purple“, he’s had his fair share of putting out good music for the modern ears. ASTROWORLD is no different than the rest, but in the good way.

Vibe:

Travis Scott himself usually has his own personal feel when it comes to his music, sharing a trippy but yet still comforting flow to his audiences, but ASTROWORLD wasn’t afraid to mix it up when it comes to flows. In songs like “STOP TRYING TO BE GOD” (Features Kid Cudi) and “STARGAZING” brings his familiar sound to the table: Ghoulish, mind-rolling, Head-shaking enjoyment that you found in songs in the past in “goosebumps” and “through the late night” (which also featured Kid Cudi), but then you have songs like “COFFEE BEAN” that is completely different with it’s old-school flow.

Features:

Travis incorporates his features into the songs almost perfectly, bringing in Kid Cudi like he has on other occasions is a definitive success, but I have to applaud him for bringing in new talent to the table. Tame Impala is known for his own personal trippy productions, even having the ability to sing, but in this particular project he was content to offer a beat for Scott on “SKELETONS” (Which also included The Weeknd and Pharrell), and it doesn’t disappoint. As a huge Tame fan, I was happy to see the two collaborate on something for their styles being so familiar yet so different. I’ve never been a big fan on the likes of Migos or 21 Savage, but in songs “NC-17” and “Who? What!“, they were better than I guessed. Overall, I think the features merged beautifully into this album.

ASTROWORLD is exactly what it’s attempting to portray: it’s a theme park of different attractions that offers differing sounds, feel, and moods as an amusement park should. I personally enjoyed it and can say that after waiting long for this album to drop, I’m not disappointed with the outcome.

Rating: 9/10.
